Terms and Conditions
Rental Requirements:
- A valid payment card in the renter’s name is required.
- We accept credit cards, prepaid credit cards, and debit cards enabled for electronic transactions (debit cards with 16 digits).
- The payment card must remain valid for a minimum of 6 months beyond the vehicle's scheduled return date.
- The payment card must be presented in its physical form at the time of rental.
- A valid driver's license is required for all rentals.

Credit & Debit Card Policy
Payment card requirements are as follows:
- Only debit cards enabled for electronic transactions (16-digit debit cards) are accepted.
- Prepaid credit cards are accepted.
- Cardholder must be the same as the Renter.
- The payment card must be presented physically at pickup.
- The payment card must be valid for at least 6 months after the return.
- We accept payments via Visa, Mastercard, American Express (AMEX), JCB, Diners Club Unnion Pay and Discover.
Driver License Policy
All drivers must show a valid driver’s license at pickup.
Driver’s License Requirements

Latin letters: Accepted without extra documents.

Non-Latin letters: Must present both an International Driving Permit (IDP) and the original license.

New licenses: Accepted, but age rules apply.
Minimum age
- 23+ years: All car rental categories

21-24 years: Small and Mid-size SUVs.

20 years: Eligible for Small and Family Car categories.

Flexible Car Rental Cancellation, Refund & Modification Policy
At Saga Car Rental Iceland, we understand that travel plans can change. That’s why we offer a flexible cancellation and refund policy for your convenience. Whether you need to cancel, return your rental car early, or extend your booking, we make the process fast and easy.
How to Cancel Your Car Rental Booking
You can cancel your Iceland car rental reservation at any time by contacting our customer service team.
When cancelling, please include your reservation number (found in your booking confirmation email; reservation numbers start with “LP”).
Car Rental Cancellation & Refund Policy

Full Refund – Cancellations made at least 24 hours before your scheduled pick-up time receive a 100% refund of the amount paid.

If you have any questions about cancellations or refunds, our support team is here to help.
Rental Car Extension Policy

Availability – Extensions depend on vehicle availability at the time of your request.

Extra Charges – Additional rental days are charged based on the rental price at the time of extension. No modification fee applies.

3rd Party Bookings – If you booked through a third-party site but extend directly with Saga Car Rental Iceland, our standard rates will apply.

Confirmation Process – Extensions are only confirmed once you have:
- Paid for the extended rental period.
Important Refund Information

Refunds typically appear on your credit card statement within 3–10 business days.

If you do not see the refund after this period, please contact your credit card company.
Late Arrival Policy (Keflavik Airport)
We hold all reservations at Keflavik International Airport (KEF) for up to two (2) hours after your scheduled pick-up time.

If you are delayed: Please contact us as soon as possible to update your arrival time.

After two hours: Your reserved vehicle may be released to other customers. We will try to provide a car if you arrive later, but availability cannot be guaranteed.
Flight Delays & After-Hours Pick-Up
If your flight arrives after our regular opening hours due to a delay:

We will keep the location open if your booking includes the correct flight number, and

The airline or operator has officially notified us of the delay and your updated arrival time.
Fees, Charges & Additional costs
To help you avoid unexpected charges, please review our fee schedule before your rental. Following the terms and conditions of your contract, obeying traffic laws, and returning your vehicle in good condition can help you save money. Always remember to Re-fuel/Recharge before drop-off and avoid parking or traffic fines.
- All payments made directly with Saga Car Rental are made in EUR.

Emergency Assistance Fees
If a renter is responsible for immobilizing a vehicle, emergency assistance fees will apply:

If a third party must be called to recover or transport the vehicle, their charges will apply in addition to the above fees. Saga Car Rental will always charge the emergency starter fee of 25,000 ISK.
Key Tips to Avoid Extra Charges:
